Life in Arlington, VA

Arlington, Virginia is located on the Potomac River’s west bank about five miles south of the United States’ Capital, Washington D.C. The area has several residential neighborhoods that combine both urban and rural features. This is why residents often describe the area as filled with “harmonious contradictions.”

This is a fairly apt description because much of Arlington has the typical small-town charm of many quiet Northern Virginia suburbs. But what makes this community so different is its undeniably upbeat and very modern vibe.

Some neighborhoods are steeped in traditional values that reflect the rich history of the area, while offering residents the convenience of modern amenities. People here enjoy a safe, tight-knit, and peaceful community with all the conveniences of a metropolitan center. This allows you to have the best of both worlds a short drive from the U.S. Capitol.

Things To Do in Arlington

Arlington, VA is blessed with more than 150 beautiful parks, giving residents plenty of outdoor space to enjoy picnicking, jogging, playing ball with their kids, tossing a Frisbee to their dog, and etc. It’s very relaxing to know that just outside your door there are large expanses of grass where you can go to forget the stresses of life.

People from across the world come to Arlington National Cemetery where our country’s fallen heroes are buried. Many pay tribute at the Eternal Flame, which marks the grave of John F. Kennedy. The Tomb of the Unknowns is also here, always being guarded by the Army’s 3rd Infantry.

History buffs can often be found at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, which is often called the “Iwo Jima Memorial.” This is where tribute is paid to the Marines who have died defending our flag. The Air Force Memorial is also located in Arlington and is one of the city’s most incredible sights at night.

Residents of Arlington who want to enjoy cultural activities can go to the Signature and Synetic Theatres where everything from modern musicals to Shakespearian plays are routinely being performed. If you want to grab a bite before or after the show, there are a lot of great restaurants and eateries serving practically any type of cuisine. You have so many choices that you could actually try a new restaurant every night for a year without visiting the same one twice.
